Foam fill is used to raise sunken driveways, walkways, and patios. These repairs extend the life of the concrete, improve the appearance, and eliminate trip hazards. Foam can also be used to fill voids under slabs and compress soft soil that may not be otherwise accessible.
Because of the short down time and durability of repairs, foam is ideal for slab lifting, leveling, and void filling in commercial and industrial applications. Warehouse and production floors, walkways, and loading docks can all be supported with foam.
Whether it's a high traffic roadway repair or simply lifting a slab to eliminate a trip hazard on a sidewalk, foam is available to fill the need. There is high density closed cell foam for slab support as well as open cell foam used to fill very large areas, including sinkholes.
An application specific, two-component polyurethane foam is heated and pressurized by specialized equipment on site. The material is pumped through an injection gun into small, temporary fittings installed in the slab or pumped into the ground through an extension pipe for deep injection. A chemical reaction occurs as the two components mix, creating a durable foam that expands up to 30 times the original fluid volume. Closed cell foam has the power to lift concrete slabs and compact soil.
Most projects take only a couple hours, but it varies with the work being done. By the time we've finished cleaning up, most areas are ready to use. The foam is fully cured in one hour.
Cured foam is very strong and lasts well over 100 years. Beyond specific industrial chemicals, the only thing than breaks it down is direct ultraviolet light. Because the foam is placed below a slab or underground, UV rays from the sun will not cause degradation. To get maximum longevity out of a repair, the initial cause of the settling or erosion should be considered.
Our service is billed by how many pounds of foam are used in addition to a site fee. To estimate how many pounds of foam may be required, we inspect your property, take measurements, and may use a static cone penetrometer to determine soil density. Every effort is made to provide you with a fair and consistent estimate of the foam needed.
